About The Department


The Admin Department is generally responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of various essential tasks that are vital for the day-to-day operations and long-term sustainability of the Administration. It conducts all its operations in harmony with the 2022-2026 strategic objectives of the GMA to position the institution at the nerve center of quality and operational excellence in executing its services to the public.

To support the myriads of its operational functions, the Admin department has under its purview Records, Admin, IT, Security, Stores, Estate and Facility, and General Services Units, each designed to specialize in different aspects of the department’s operations, allowing for a more focused approach to tasks and responsibilities.

These Units' specialized responsibilities help the Admin Department to streamline administrative processes, improve coordination, and enhance overall productivity. The department is headed by the Senior Administrative Manager.

The Department is responsible for administering the GMA staff medical scheme and coordinating the provision of telecommunication services for the Administration. It is further responsible for facilitating the procurement of office equipment as well as the maintenance of facilities.

Other functions of the Admin Department include the upkeep of records of the Administration’s correspondences, both internally and externally.

 
Units

Communication Unit

The Unit is responsible for raising awareness and promoting a positive public image of GMA through internal and external communications, continuous improvement, delivery, shaping, and maintaining GMA’s reputation and brand. The unit is under the Directorate department and is headed by the Communication manager who is answerable to the Director General.

The Communication unit conducts public awareness programs and activities in relation to the mandate of GMA. It is tasked with the development and implementation of communication strategies for GMA to adequately help create a public understanding of GMA and safeguard the Administration’s reputation. It further manages the GMA website, and all its social media accounts.

The Communication unit serves as the interface between the Administration and the public. It is the face of the GMA with regards to our stakeholders, thus projecting the image and work of GMA in a positive light.

Stakeholder engagement and other communication functions are at the heart of the unit’s responsibilities and this is geared towards meaningful relationships with partners in government, inter-government, non-government, and private actors.

GMA has become a key government agency over the past decade since its establishment, and attaining visibility, understanding, and recognition of our work is a priority in the GMA strategic plan 2021-2026.

The launching of GMA’s first website since 2009, following its establishment, is a manifestation of the ongoing efforts of the Administration to create an excellent relationship with our stakeholders nationally and internationally. This nurturing of our relationship with the public and other stakeholders will define our communication strategy going forward.
