The Directorate department is the highest hierarchy of the Management cadre of the Administration. It is headed by the Director General, who is deputized by a Deputy Director General. The Directorate of the Administration is responsible for the formulation and implementation of policies, programs, and plans relating to the functions of the Administration. These policies and programs are geared towards ensuring the fulfillment of the mandate of GMA and ensuring efficiency and effectiveness at the Administrative level.
The Directorate is generally tasked with coordinating regular training and development of staff of the Administration based on such personnel or manpower guidelines as may be approved by the Board. It further provides overall leadership in the conduct and management of the day-to-day business or activities of the Administration.
Some of the units under the Directorate department are: Communication unit, Planning unit, Training and Development unit, Procurement unit, Transport unit, and the Estates unit. The Director General monitors the running of the Administration and oversees all department activities and their heads regarding the implementation of plans and strategies in the Administration.
The core function of the Planning Unit is the coordination of the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the Strategic Plan of the Administration. The Unit works towards achieving the six strategic goals of the strategic plan, namely:
Evaluation of the strategic plan is based on both quantitative and qualitative measures, with reviews of principal objectives of the administration in both quantitative and qualitative indicators. The Planning Unit is headed by a Planning Manager and is assisted by Officers under the Director General's office.
