Mr. Omar Marong is a seasoned finance and audit professional with over 17 years of experience in internal and external audit, compliance, and financial management. With a proven track record in the public and private sectors, he specializes in developing audit frameworks, managing teams, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Omar thrives in fast-paced environments, adapting to new challenges while maintaining a focus on improving organizational processes.

Mr. Marong is responsible for  directing, supervising and assigning coverage, reviewing and assessing the adequacy of audit reports at GMA. He is also responsible for the implementation of audit strategy to meet financial and other reporting requirements of the Administration. 

Mr. Marong is pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Administration at the University of The Gambia, he holds a part-qualified ACCA certificate, a Certified Compliance Officer by the International Academy of Business and Financial Management, Kenya, and has a Diploma in Accounting (AAT level 4) from The Gambia Technical Training Institute, GTTI (now University of Science, Engineering and Technology, USET). 

Mr. Marong has previously served in various roles, including Internal Audit Manager and Accountant at GMA; Audit Manager at Accord Associates; Compliance Officer and Internal Audit Officer at Ecobank Gambia Limited; and Audit Assistant at Deloitte and Touche.
